Citations for SEO – What They Are & How To Get Them
Before we dive into this post it’s important to know that Citations for SEO really only apply to local business websites, meaning you own a business in a physical location. This would not apply to a software business, affiliate website or other business of that nature. If you own a service based business that operates out of a physical location, then getting you citations dialed in is very important. Â
What Are Citations For SEO
They are your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) cited somewhere on different business directories all over the internet.
Why use Citations?
If Google does not know you are a local business in a particular area, they most likely won’t display you in the map pack. By getting your NAP info (name, address, phone #) on hundreds of different business directory sites, Google is able to better identify what you offer and more importantly where you are located so they can display your location in maps.
The Free Way to get Citations
